Most area school district levies pass

A two-year operating levy for the Reardan-Edwall School District passed with 67 percent support Tuesday, 828-408.

Special levies need at least 60 percent to pass.

The only other item on the ballot in Spokane County was a levy in the Rosalia School District, which lies mostly in Whitman County. That passed with 66.8 percent support, 233-116.

Elsewhere in Whitman County, Pullman School District voters approved an operating levy and a capital levy for technology. The operating levy had 79.8 percent support, 2,360-599. The capital levy had 78.6 percent support, 2,323- 634.

Elsewhere in Lincoln County, levies were approved in five school districts and Hospital District 1, which operates the Odessa Memorial Healthcare Center.

Those results: Creston School District levy, 62.6 percent support, 280-167; Odessa School District levy, 64 percent support, 378-213; Wilbur School District levy, 70.7 percent support, 378-157; Harrington School District levy, 78.9 percent support, 221-59; Davenport School District levy, 62.1 percent support, 556-339; Hospital District 1 levy, 76.5 percent support, 484-149.

In Stevens County, voters in the Valley, Summit and Columbia school districts approved levies while Mary Walker district patrons rejected their levy. Those results: Valley School District, 67.7 percent support, 281-134; the Summit Valley School District in the Addy area, 67.3 percent support, 173-84; the Hunters-based Columbia School District, 71.7 percent support, 220-87. The Springdale-based Mary Walker School District rejected a levy with 57 percent support, 368-278.

In northern Pend Oreille County, voters in the Selkirk School District approved their levy with 65.1 percent support, 505-271.

In Ferry County, a operating levy in the Republic School District passed with 67.2 percent support, 878-429.

Also in Ferry County, a proposal to divert money from the county’s Conservation Futures Fund to county government use was approved, 1,192 to 1,016. The measure needed a simple majority.
