Jamie Langenbrunner scored two goals and Scott Gomez had a goal and three assists in the New Jersey Devils’ 7-4 victory over the Tampa Bay Lightning on Tuesday night in East Rutherford, N.J.

New Jersey scored three times in the first 8 minutes, 40 seconds and survived a Tampa Bay rally in the third period to run its home winning streak to eight games.

Sabres 3, Canadiens 2 (OT): Maxim Afinogenov scored his second power-play goal of the game on a 5-on-3 man advantage 30 seconds into overtime to give Buffalo a victory at Montreal.

Wild 5, Kings 1: Marian Gaborik and Pascal Dupuis each scored two of Minnesota’s franchise-record five power-play goals to lead the Wild to a victory over Los Angeles in St. Paul, Minn.

Maple Leafs 4, Thrashers 1: Alex Ponikarovsky, Darcy Tucker, Kyle Wellwood and former Spokane Chief Bryan McCabe scored goals and the Maple Leafs beat Atlanta for the seventh straight time, this one in Toronto.

Panthers 5, Capitals 0: Jon Sim had three goals and an assist and Roberto Luongo made 44 saves for his fourth shutout of the season as Florida blanked the Capitals in Washington.

Avalanche 5, Oilers 2: Alex Tanguay had a goal and two assists and Colorado ended a power-play drought with two goals in a win over Edmonton in Denver.

Blackhawks 3, Coyotes 1: Radim Vrbata and Martin Lapointe scored 1:24 apart in the second period to help Chicago beat Phoenix in Glendale, Ariz.

Peter Forsberg‘s return to Philadelphia’s lineup is on hold and the star center’s status for the Olympics remains uncertain.
