Post Falls man rear-ends deputy
A Post Falls man was cited for reckless driving Thursday after rear-ending a Kootenai County Sheriff’s Department patrol car that was parked on the side of the road.
Deputy Jack McAvoy had responded to an accident at Hayden Avenue and Meyer Road shortly before 7 a.m. He was out of the patrol car, helping accident victims, when 20-year-old James M. Murray reportedly rear-ended his parked patrol car, Sheriff’s Capt. Ben Wolfinger said.
He said that Murray was driving his 1980 Chevy Luv pickup about 45 mph at the time of the crash.
According to Idaho State Police, damage to the patrol car was estimated at $5,000. The ISP said there was heavy fog at the time of the crash and the roads were icy.

CdA Tribe blasts anti-gaming legislation
Legislation sponsored by House and Senate Republican leaders asking the Idaho attorney general to file a lawsuit challenging the state’s voter-approved Indian gaming drew sharp opposition Friday from the Coeur d’Alene Tribe.
“We believe that our fellow citizens supported the tribe when they overwhelmingly passed Proposition One on Nov. 5, 2002,” said Coeur d’Alene Tribal Chairman Chief Allan.
HCR 35 was quietly introduced Thursday. Allan noted that the lawmakers never notified the Idaho Indian Affairs Council, a joint committee of legislators and tribal representatives that has requested review of legislation that affects tribes. Council Chairman Sen. Mike Jorgenson, R-Hayden Lake, made the request in January.
