James Jones scored 21 points, and Lance Pecht and Kevin Hasenfus each added 20 as the Whitworth men (18-6, 12-3) rolled to a 88-74 win over Whitman (9-114, 5-10) in a Northwest Conference game Tuesday in Walla Walla. Kyle Born and Erik Kofler each had 15 points and 10 rebounds forWhitman.

Women’s basketball

Lizzy Washburn scored 23 points on 10-of-14 shooting from the field to lead Whitman (13-10, 9-6 NWC) to a 65-42 win over Whitworth at Walla Walla. Holly Ridings scored 11 points lead the Pirates (13-10, 7-8).

College baseball

Washington State junior right-handed pitcher Wayne Daman, Jr. was named the Pacific-10 Conference pitcher of the week. Daman, from Beaver, Wash., opened the season by throwing six shutout innings in an 8-2 victory over East Tennessee State.
