Traore’s 23 points leads Purdue to win over Ohio State

Ava Traore overcame stomach flu and matched her career high with 23 points and led No. 18 Purdue to a 61-59 victory over No. 7 Ohio State on Sunday in West Lafayette, Ind.

The Boilermakers (10-2, 2-0 Big Ten) claimed their sixth consecutive victory after Ohio State’s Ashley Allen’s 3-pointer as time expired bounced off the rim.

Traore helped Purdue overcome a nine-point halftime deficit. She had 16 points on 6-of-11 shooting from the field in the second half.

Marscilla Packer led Ohio State (9-2, 1-1) with a career-high 19 points, shooting 5 for 6 from 3-point range. Jessica Davenport, Ohio State’s leading scorer with an 18.4 average, was limited to 10 points.

(3) LSU 99, North Carolina A&T 35: At Baton Rouge, La., Quianna Chaney scored a career-high 19 points to lead the Tigers (11-0) in a rout over the Aggies (0-10). LSU reserves Kristen Morris (15 points) and Ashley Thomas (13) joined Chaney in double figures.

(10) Michigan State 77, Michigan 44: At East Lansing, Mich., Liz Shimek scored 16 points and the Spartans (10-3, 1-0 Big Ten) forced 29 turnovers in a win over the Wolverines (6-8, 0-2).

(14) Stanford 91, UCLA 68: At Stanford, Calif., Candice Wiggins scored 30 points and Brooke Smith added 23 points and a career-high 14 rebounds to lead the Cardinal (8-4, 3-1 Pac-10) to a victory over the Bruins (7-6, 2-2).

(16) New Mexico 55, New Mexico State 42: At Albuquerque, N.M., Abbie Letz had a career-high 27 points and added 10 rebounds to help the Lobos (10-3) beat the Aggies (3-8) for the 20th straight time.
