Sacred Heart Medical Center’s emergency department has gone through a broad and sometimes painful restructuring over the last two years.

But the result is a nimble, efficient operation that treats more patients, more quickly. That success has since spread to the upper floors of the hospital, resulting in a financial recovery from losses in 2004.
