Moscow posts Taylor-made win over PF

Kelsey Taylor hit a 12-foot jump shot in the final 15 seconds to give Moscow the lead for good during a 40-37 Inland Empire League girls basketball win over Post Falls at Moscow on Thursday.

Kelly Scott hit two free throws to seal the win for the Bears (6-10, 5-4). Taylor led all scorers with 18 points, and Scott added 10 for Moscow. Jenny McVeigh had 12 points and Kandice McArthur added 11 for the Trojans (9-8, 6-4), who fell into a tie for second place in league.

In other IEL action, Lake City held Lewiston to less than 10 points in every quarter of a 48-31 win at Lake City. Katy Baker led the Timberwolves (9-9, 6-4) with 14 points and five rebounds, and Richelle Fenenbock added 11 points, four assists and four steals. Kiki Edwards-Teasley and Betsy Hechtner each scored nine for the Bengals (7-11, 2-8).

•The Coeur d’Alene sophomores used a 26-5 fourth quarter to rout host Mullan 59-30 in a non-league game. Jessica Duran led three Vikings in double figures with 18 points, including 14 in the fourth quarter. Savanna Talley paced the Tigers (1-12) with 11.

Boys basketball

Post Falls went 10 for 10 from the free-throw line in the final 3 minutes en route to a 53-46 Inland Empire League win over host Moscow. Brandon Haas (16 points), Spencer Pinger (14) and Kyle Turpin (12) led the way for the Trojans (9-4, 2-3). Paul Wimer scored 14 points, and Brad Herrenbruck added 10 for the Bears (9-5, 4-1).

•Jesse James notched 22 points and 12 rebounds, and Mullan put up 30 points in the first quarter in a 73-36 non-league win over visiting Coeur d’Alene sophomores. Cory Pehan scored 17 points and Joe Ploharz added 14 for the victorious Tigers (9-3).
