Lakeland tips Sandpoint in OT

Ryan Gallia scored 27 points, and Lakeland went up by eight early in overtime to defeat Sandpoint 74-71 in Inland Empire League boys basketball Friday at Rathdrum.

Phillip Viebrock had 17 points and 11 rebounds for the Hawks (5-9, 1-5), and Bubba Bartlett added 14 points and 11 boards. Brian Shultz led the Bulldogs (8-6, 3-3) with 18 points.

Jeremiah Big Spring scored 17 points as Kellogg defeated visiting Priest River 55-42 in an Intermountain League game. Joey Sauer added 12 for the Wildcats (10-3, 3-0), who outscored the Spartans 31-20 in the second half. Chris Smith led PR (6-6, 2-2) with 24 points.

Jesse James and Cory Pehan scored 19 points apiece to lead Mullan to a 59-40 home victory over Kootenai in a North Star League game. James added 11 rebounds for the Tigers (10-3, 4-1), who outscored the Warriors 40-22 in the second half. Cody Kraack led Kootenai (2-10, 1-4) with 12 points.

Girls basketball

Bridgitt Bohannon had 19 points and 12 rebounds as Lakeland cruised to a 52-35 victory over Sandpoint in an Inland Empire League game at Rathdrum. Natalie Nichols added 10 points and Camille Reynolds had five assists for the Hawks (13-5, 5-5), who opened up a 23-point lead after three quarters. Kendal Burt led the Bulldogs (6-10, 2-6) with 14 points.

Lisa Carver had 22 points and 14 rebounds as Wallace cruised to a 62-48 victory over visiting Clark Fork in North Star League play. Krista Williams added 14 points and 11 rebounds for the Miners (15-1, 5-0), who led by 28 entering the fourth quarter. Jolene Meredith led the Wampus Cats (3-11, 3-3) with 13 points. … Cassie Scheffelmaier scored 17 points as Kootenai routed host Mullan 57-34. Nikita Amy added nine points and 11 rebounds for the Warriors (13-4, 6-1). Fawn Story had 13 points and 15 rebounds for the Tigers (1-13, 0-5), who lost Katlyn Valerio to a knee injury in the second quarter.
