Neighborhood Alliance meeting – The Neighborhood Alliance of Spokane County will have its annual meeting featuring guest speaker John Roskelly, former Spokane County commissioner, 7-9 p.m. Wednesday at the Community Building, 35 W. Main; 466-0576.

Women’s Association Luncheon – The Spokane College Women’s Association hosts Judge Shannen Rosmiller speaking on “Counter-Intelligence on the Internet,” 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Red Lion River Inn, 700 N. Division. Reservations required by Jan. 21. Lunch is available for $13; 465-0362.

World of ice – The Cheney Palouse Chapter of the Ice Age Floods Institute will host guest speaker Eugene Kiver, professor emeritus of geology at Eastern Washington University, with a presentation on “Glaciers 101: The World of Ice.” The public is welcome; 559-5818.

Lakes conference – The fifth annual Eastern Washington/North Idaho Regional Lakes Conference for residents and lake associations to discuss local lakes and watersheds, 9 a.m.-2:30 p.m. Feb. 11 at the Spokane Community College Lair Student Center, 1810 N.
