Royals 8, Cardinals 7 (11): At St. Louis, Mark Teahen hit a solo homer and matched a career high with four RBIs to help Kansas City beat the Cardinals.
Mets 8, Yankees 3: At New York, Steve Trachsel won his fifth straight start and the visiting Mets roughed up Randy Johnson again, snapping their four-game losing streak with a win over the Yankees.
Angels 9, Dodgers 2: At Anaheim, Calif., Kelvim Escobar pitched seven shutout innings to snap a personal seven-game losing streak, Garret Anderson had two hits to give him 2,000 in his career, and the host Angels beat the Dodgers.
Astros 7, Rangers 0: At Arlington, Texas, rookie right-hander Taylor Buchholz baffled the Rangers again and Mike Lamb homered in Houston’s win that ended a four-game losing streak.
Diamondbacks 7, Athletics 2: At Oakland, Calif., Miguel Batista carried a perfect game through 6 2/3 innings and didn’t allow a hit until Frank Thomas’ two-run homer in the seventh, leading Arizona to victory.
Twins 10, Brewers 7: At Minneapolis, Derrick Turnbow’s bases loaded walk to Shannon Stewart in the eighth forced home the go-ahead run and helped Minnesota extend its winning streak to nine games with a win over Milwaukee.
Indians 12, Reds 7: At Cincinnati, ailing Travis Hafner had a pinch-hit grand slam that tied a Cleveland record and rallied Cleveland to victory. Hafner matched Al Rosen’s 1951 club mark with his fourth grand slam of the season.
Pirates 9, Tigers 2: At Pittsburgh, Detroit’s infield defense broke down in a seven-run Pirates’ seventh inning started by Sean Casey’s run-scoring single and Pittsburgh won for the second time in 2 1/2 weeks.
Nationals 4, Devil Rays 3: At Washington, Nick Johnson ended a monthlong homerless streak with his first game-ending drive to lift the slumping Nationals over Tampa Bay.
Orioles 7, Braves 4: At Atlanta, Brian Roberts had three hits and two RBIs and Baltimore jumped on Tim Hudson early to beat the Braves.
Red Sox 11, Marlins 5: At Miami, Manny Ramirez and David Ortiz each homered twice and combined to drive in nine runs, powering Boston past Florida.
Blue Jays 5, Phillies 2: At Toronto, Troy Glaus and Eric Hinske homered in the sixth to lead the Blue Jays past Philadelphia.
