Tigers 10, Athletics 4: At Oakland, Kenny Rogers won his seventh straight decision against his former club and Craig Monroe hit a two-run homer, leading Detroit over Oakland to avoid a three-game sweep.

Yankees 11, Indians 3: At Cleveland, rookie Melky Cabrera hit his first career grand slam in an eight-run fourth inning, helping New York bounce back from a historic 19-1 loss with an easy win over Cleveland.

Devil Rays 5, Red Sox 2: At St Petersburg, Fla., speedy Carl Crawford put on a dazzling offensive show to support the pitching of Tim Corcoran, leading Tampa Bay to a victory over Boston, their third straight over the Red Sox. Crawford singled twice, drove in two runs and stole three bases – and added a home run.

Rangers 9, Blue Jays 3: At Arlington, Texas, former Spokane Indian Ian Kinsler had three hits, including one of Texas’ four home runs, and Vicente Padilla struck out a season-high 10 to lead Texas to a victory over Toronto.

White Sox 4, Orioles 2: At Chicago, Jon Garland won his fourth straight decision and Chicago used a four-run first inning before holding on to beat Baltimore for their 15th win in 19 games.

Royals 6, Twins 3: At Kansas City, Mo., John Buck and Reggie Sanders each had two hits and two RBIs and Mark Grudzielanek had three hits as Kansas City beat Minnesota.
