Padres 10, Nationals 9: At Washington, Mike Piazza hit a ninth-inning pinch-hit home run to cap a four-run rally and give San Diego a victory over the Nationals.

Diamondbacks 8, Rockies 5: At Denver, Orlando Hudson and Luis Gonzalez homered, and Arizona scored five runs in the seventh inning to beat Colorado, completing a three-game sweep.

Mets 7, Marlins 6: At New York, David Wright hit a go-ahead three-run homer in the eighth inning to help the Mets beat Florida.

Dodgers 3, Giants 1: At Los Angeles, Aaron Sele pitched six strong innings, Nomar Garciaparra extended his hitting streak to 21 games, and the Dodgers beat All-Star Jason Schmidt and San Francisco.

Phillies 8, Pirates 3: At Philadelphia, Cole Hamels pitched five solid innings to win for the first time in over a month, and the Phillies took their first series in that same span, beating Pittsburgh.

Cardinals 7, Astros 5 (12): At Houston, Aaron Miles doubled in two runs in the 12th inning to give St. Louis a victory over the Astros.

Braves 8, Reds 3: At Atlanta, Andruw Jones hit a two-run homer and the Braves roughed up All-Star Bronson Arroyo in a win over Cincinnati.

Cubs 11, Brewers 4: At Milwaukee, Glendon Rusch filled in for Mark Prior with five solid innings and Chicago beat Milwaukee for its third straight win.
