The Miami Heat scored the game’s first points, but it was all Charlotte from that point forward as the Bobcats cruised to an easy 83-65 victory in the second game of the 2006 Pepsi Pro Summer League.

In his rookie debut, former Gonzaga University and Mead High School star Adam Morrison finished with 12 points, four rebounds and five assists in 27 minutes.

Charlotte’s Sean May led all scorers with 22 points. Teammate Alan Anderson tallied 11 points.

“I had a little bit of jitters – it was my first NBA-type game,” Morrison said. “I rushed my shot a little bit at first, but I thought the rest of my game was good the way I ran the floor and made some good passes. It was good to help the team get a win, and that’s my ultimate goal.”

The Bobcats dominated the first half of play, leading by as many as 18 behind May’s 14 points.

The Heat struggled in many facets of the game, shooting 31 percent from the field and committing 12 turnovers (compared to the Bobcats’ six), while no Heat player managed to score over four points in the half.

Charlotte went into the break with a 14-point cushion, up 41-27.

May came out strong early, tallying seven points on 3-of-4 shooting in the game’s first 10 minutes to give the Bobcats a 22-15 advantage at the first quarter break.

The Bobcats looked good in the period, committing only two turnovers and hitting 75 percent of their free throws.

The Bobcats picked right up where they left off in the second half, expanding their cushion to as many as 23 in the contest’s latter stages.
