Yankees 1, Indians 0: At New York, Chien-Ming Wang allowed five hits in 7 1/3 innings, Robinson Cano homered off hard-luck loser Paul Byrd and the Yankees stopped their four-game slide by defeating Cleveland.

Twins 5, Red Sox 2 (12): At Minneapolis, rookie Jason Kubel’s grand slam in the 12th off Julian Tavarez gave Minnesota a victory over Boston. Kubel’s homer put an ending on a game in which Curt Schilling and Johan Santana dueled to a standstill for eight innings.

Angels 4, Royals 1: At Anaheim, Calif., rookie Jered Weaver won his fourth straight start since getting promoted from the minors and Los Angeles beat Kansas City to spoil Brandon Duckworth’s debut.

White Sox 5, Rangers 2: At Arlington, Texas, Paul Konerko broke a tie with a three-run homer in the sixth and former Spirit Lake, Idaho, resident Bobby Jenks earned his 19th save in 20 chances as Chicago beat Texas.

Tigers 7, Devil Rays 1: At Detroit, Kenny Rogers allowed one run in eight strong innings to earn the 199th victory of his career, and the Tigers beat Tampa Bay for their fourth consecutive win.

Blue Jays 7, Orioles 1: At Toronto, Roy Halladay pitched a six-hitter to win his seventh straight decision and the Blue Jays ended a three-game losing streak with a victory over Baltimore.
