Twins 5, Red Sox 3: At Minneapolis, Jason Kubel homered for the third straight game, Carlos Silva pitched six-plus shutout innings and Minnesota beat Boston for a three-game sweep. Minnesota has won four in a row and six out of seven.

Angels 3, Royals 2 (10): At Anaheim, Calif., Vladimir Guerrero hit a two-run homer, and Orlando Cabrera’s two-out RBI single in the 10th lifted Los Angeles past Kansas City.

White Sox 8, Rangers 2: At Arlington, Texas, Mark Buehrle pitched eight strong innings, Juan Uribe homered and drove in three runs, and Chicago beat Texas.

Indians 8, Yankees 4: At New York, Todd Hollandsworth broke out of a 0-for-19 slump with an RBI double and a three-run homer, and Cleveland defeated New York to avoid a three-game sweep.

Tigers 6, Devil Rays 2: At Detroit, Zach Miner allowed two unearned runs and three hits in seven innings, pitching Detroit past Tampa Bay. Detroit (43-24) has matched its 2003 win total.

Blue Jays 4, Orioles 2: At Toronto, Eric Hinske homered and Ted Lilly pitched six scoreless innings to lead Toronto over Baltimore.
