Nationals 3, Yankees 2: At Washington, Ryan Zimmerman hit a game-winning, two-run homer with one out in the bottom of the ninth to send Washington past New York in dramatic fashion for the second consecutive day.

Tigers 12, Cubs 3: At Chicago, Kenny Rogers won his 200th game, and Detroit tied a club record with eight home runs in a win over Chicago.

White Sox 8, Reds 1: At Cincinnati, Jon Garland allowed only four singles while pitching into the ninth inning and hit the first homer by a White Sox pitcher in 35 years as Chicago beat Cincinnati.

Twins 8, Pirates 2: At Pittsburgh, Minnesota turned two infield grounders and a Mike Redmond single into the decisive run in a four-run eighth as the Twins beat Pittsburgh.

Mets 9, Orioles 4: At New York, David Wright hit a grand slam and drove in five runs, and Tom Glavine became the first 10-game winner in the majors as New York beat Baltimore.

Marlins 4, Blue Jays 1: At Miami, Dan Uggla had three hits and knocked in the go-ahead run as Florida won its eighth in a row by beating Roy Halladay and Toronto.

Red Sox 10, Braves 7: At Atlanta, pinch-hitter Mike Lowell’s go-ahead two-run double and Kevin Youkilis’ two-run home run highlighted Boston’s six-run eighth as the Red Sox beat Atlanta.

Phillies 8, Devil Rays 5: At Philadelphia, Ryan Howard homered and drove in four runs to help Philadelphia snap a season-worst six-game losing streak with a win over Tampa Bay.

Royals 7, Astros 4: At Houston, Doug Mientkiewicz hit a three-run homer in the top of the ninth as Kansas City beat Houston.

Rangers 10, Diamondbacks 7: At Arlington, Texas, Michael Young singled in the go-ahead run in the eighth to help Texas beat Arizona.

Brewers 6, Indians 3: At Milwaukee, Carlos Lee’s three-run homer in the bottom of the ninth lifted Milwaukee to a win over Cleveland.

Athletics 5, Dodgers 2: At Oakland, Calif., Joe Blanton pitched into the ninth as Oakland beat Los Angeles to win its season-best 10th straight.

Padres 7, Angels 3: At Anaheim, Calif., Mike Cameron and Adrian Gonzalez homered off Bartolo Colon as San Diego beat Los Angeles.

National League

Cardinals 4, Rockies 1: At St. Louis, Chris Carpenter allowed one run in seven innings, and Scott Rolen hit a two-run homer as St. Louis beat Colorado.
