Prugh moves to third round in Scotland

University of Washington men’s golfer Alex Prugh has advanced to the third round of match play at the British Amateur, held in Scotland at the Royal St. George’s and Prince’s Golf Club of St. Andrews.

Prugh (Ferris High) advanced to match play by shooting rounds of 74 and 77 Wednesday during the stroke play portion of the tournament.

Prugh defeated Jacques Blaauw of South Africa in the first round of match play. He bested James Crampton of the United Kingdom in round two.

His third-round opponent will be Jamie Moul, also from the UK.

Prep sports

Citadel Broadcasting Company will air Greater Spokane League football, boys basketball, girls basketball, baseball and softball for the next five seasons, GSL secretary Randy Ryan announced.

The deal ends the GSL’s partnership with Brett Sports, which lasted more than 20 years, Ryan said.

Most games will be broadcast on 790-AM.

Baseball

Jeremy Hefner pitched eight innings of one-hit ball, striking out 10, as the Spokane RiverHawks toppled the Kitsap BlueJackets 9-0 in West Coast Collegiate Baseball League play at Bremerton, Wash.

Shawn Gizynski’s two-run double highlighted Spokane’s four-run sixth.

Spokane won the series 2-1, leaving both teams 3-3 for the season.

Spokane’s home opener is at 6:30 p.m. Saturday at Avista Stadium against the Bend Elks.
