Community Events

Missionary fundraiser

Chattaroy Community Church, 3711 E. Chattaroy Road, is holding a flea market to raise funds for two missionaries today from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Dr. John Hershey and his wife, Vickie, have made 10 trips to Papua New Guinea to volunteer at a hospital. The conditions there are poor; newborns go without blankets; and patients only get food that their friends and relatives bring them.

The Hersheys will make their 11th trip to the hospital this year. Holy Family Hospital has donated much-needed medical supplies, and money raised at today’s flea market will be used to help with shipping costs.

The day will include food, crafts, rummage sale items and country music.

For more information, call Steve Combs at (509) 238-3006.

Didgeridoo lessons

The Unity Center, 4123 E. Lincoln Road, is presenting a class in music and meditation on Sunday from 1 to 3:30 p.m.

Phil Jones will teach meditative breathing techniques and also will provide didgeridoos for students to learn to play. The didgeridoo is an aboriginal instrument from Australia.

The cost a $20 suggested donation.
