Girl Scouts plan science projects

The Spokesman-Review

Girls are gathering this summer at neighborhood parks and schools to explode, erupt and experiment with fun science projects. Summer Science is a free four- to six-week outreach program put on by Girl Scouts Inland Empire Council and will introduce girls age 5 to 17 to chemistry, physics and other science.

“It’s all hands-on, messy, noisy fun,” said Peggy McDonald, membership outreach coordinator for Girl Scouts. “We want the girls to build on their natural curiosity and get them really interested in science.”

Summer Science is being held at these locations:

•Atlas Elementary in Hayden on Mondays through July 31, after the free lunch is served

•Bryan Elementary in Coeur d’Alene on Tuesdays through July 25 at 11:15 a.m.

•Fernan Elementary in Coeur d’Alene on Wednesdays through July 19, after the free lunch is served

•Ponderosa Elementary in Post Falls on Thursdays through July 20, after the free lunch is served

•Heyburn Elementary in St Maries on Fridays through July 28, after the free lunch is served

There is no charge to participate, but donations will be accepted to cover material costs, and preregistration is appreciated. To register or for more information, call (800) 827-9478 or e-mail ehenkel@gsiec.org.
