Cougars shock Pullman

Casey Christian scored 16 points Tuesday, including a 4-footer with 8 seconds to go, as Chewelah eliminated second-ranked Pullman (18-4) from the District 7 2A boys basketball tournament with a 48-47 win at Mead High.

The Cougars (12-11) will play for a state berth on Friday night at Mead.

Earlier, Kelsey Stillar scored 27 points as Lakeside’s girls ousted Deer Park 71-50. Kia Gibson added 12 rebounds for the Eagles (16-6). Laura Gibson had 24 points and seven assists for DP (10-13). Lakeside will play for a state bid Friday.
