Eagles thump Hornets

Julie Page hit 6 of 7 shots to finish with 13 points and Jamie Chicane scored 13 on 5-of-9 shooting from the floor to propel the Eastern Washington Eagles to a 79-58 victory over the Sacramento State Hornets in a Big Sky Conference regular-season finale on Saturday in Cheney.

Felice Moore added 12 points for the Eagles (13-14, 7-7) and tied teammate Raelynn Chaffee for game-high honors in rebounds with seven.

Cindy Alldrin scored a game-high 15 for Sacramento State (9-17, 4-10).

Eastern nailed 55.2 percent (32 of 58) of its shots from the floor for the game, including 17 of 29 in the second half (58.6 percent).

The Eagles begin play in the conference tournament Thursday in Pocatello, Idaho.

Pac-10 quarterfinals

Eshaya Murphy scored 21 points in leading USC to a 70-67 victory over Washington in the quarterfinals of the Pac-10 tournament in San Jose, Calif.

Camille LeNoir added 17 points for the Women of Troy (18-10), who advanced to their second straight semifinal. USC meets top-seeded Stanford today. USC lost to the Cardinal 73-69 in last year’s semifinal.

Cameo Hicks matched her career high with 26 points for Washington (18-10), which lost its third straight game. Emily Florence added 13 points and Andrea Plouffe 12.

(11) Arizona State 74, Oregon State 66: Danielle Orsillo scored nine of her 15 points in the final 8 minutes and the Sun Devils (24-5) overcame a 16-point deficit to beat the Beavers (15-14).

Kristen Kovesdy added 14 points as the Sun Devils (24-5) won their school-record 10th straight game. Central Valley High graduate Emily Westerberg had 11 points and a team-high eight rebounds and Post Falls High grad Aubree Johnson added 10 points.

The Sun Devils will meet UCLA in today’s semifinals.

(13) Stanford 77, Arizona 50: Brooke Smith had one of her best all-around games this season to help the Cardinal (22-6) crush the Wildcats (8-22).

Smith had 11 points, 11 rebounds, six assists, four blocks and two steals for the Cardinal.

Stanford’s Candice Wiggins added 16 points, playing only 25 minutes after cutting her lower lip early in the second half and leaving the game.

UCLA 80, California 63: Noelle Quinn had 18 points and 10 rebounds and Nikki Blue set a tournament record with 11 assists to lead the Bruins (18-10) past the Bears (18-11).

Lisa Willis had 14 points as the Bruins won their third straight and 8 of 10 overall.

NWAACC

Amber Harmon scored a game-high 26 to lead the visiting Wenatchee Valley Knights (21-7, 10-4) to a 74-63 victory over the Community Colleges of Spokane Sasquatch in a Northwest Athletic Association of Community Colleges make-up game.

Emily Wittkopf had a team-high 24 points for CCS (19-10, 9-5).
