Shaq celebrates with OT win in Charlotte
Shaquille O’Neal celebrated his 34th birthday with 35 points and accounted for all of Miami’s scoring in overtime, leading the Heat over the Charlotte Bobcats 106-105 Monday night.
O’Neal added 12 rebounds to lead the Heat to a season-high ninth consecutive victory. Dwyane Wade, Miami’s leading scorer, sat out with a sprained wrist.
Jason Williams made three 3s in the final period for Miami, including one with 45 seconds to play, to tie it at 98.
Spurs 103, Lakers 96: Manu Ginobili hit four 3-pointers and visiting San Antonio took control early in the third quarter on the way to a victory over Los Angeles.
Ginobili had 21 points in the Spurs’ well-balanced offense, as did Tony Parker and Michael Finley.
Nuggets 115, Grizzlies 101: Carmelo Anthony scored 35 points to lead Denver over visiting Memphis.
The Grizzles fell to 0-14 at the Pepsi Center despite 22 points from Bobby Jackson, who scored all but two of his points in the second half.
Jazz 90, Magic 85: Andrei Kirilenko made six free throws in the final 1:05 and blocked Jameer Nelson’s potential game-tying shot with 9.5 seconds left to help Utah hold off visiting Orlando.
Kirilenko, who had 18 points, nine rebounds and six blocked shots, also knocked the ball away from DeShawn Stevenson on a 3-point attempt in the final seconds after making two foul shots with 5.9 seconds to play.
Suns 101, Hornets 88: Boris Diaw scored 14 of his 20 points in the second half and added 12 rebounds, and Leandro Barbosa guided Phoenix after Steve Nash’s injury in a win over New Orleans in Oklahoma City.
Kings 109, Nets 84: Mike Bibby scored 23 of his 29 points in the first half and Brad Miller added 21 points, leading visiting Sacramento over New Jersey.
Bibby was 10 for 16 from the floor and Miller was 9 of 10 for the Kings, who put five players in double figures.
