Vandals win WAC play-in game

RENO, Nev. – Leilani Mitchell scored 24 points to lead Idaho to a 70-59 victory over Utah State on Tuesday night in the play-in game of the Western Athletic Conference tournament.

Emily Faurholt scored 19 points and Jessica Summers added 12 points for Idaho (10-18), which advanced to take on top-seeded Louisiana Tech today.

Jessica Freeman scored 16 points, including 12 in the first half, as the Aggies (3-24) took a 35-33 lead into halftime.

The Vandals trailed 42-41 with 17 minutes to play but used an 18-4 run to take control.

Idaho shot 14 of 31 in the second half.

Ali Marchant and Ashley Rutledge each scored 10 points for Utah State.
