Hints from Heloise

The Spokesman-Review

Dear Heloise: Do you have any helpful hints on removing window tinting from automobiles? – Donna, via e-mail

It might be possible for you to remove the tint yourself, but it’s going to require some work. There are usually two layers to the film. One is tint, and the other is adhesive. The tint layer is usually easy to remove, while the adhesive is stubborn and can be very hard to remove.

The only way to remove the adhesive is to scrape it off with a razor blade. It’s best to use a razor blade attached to a handle (available at hardware stores).

To save a lot of time and aggravation, it might be a better idea to call a window-tinting company in your area to see what it would charge to remove the film. – Heloise
