Dear Readers: Marinades can add great flavor to meat, pork, chicken or just about anything.

Beer Marinade

1/4 cup soy sauce

1 cup of beer (or nonalcoholic beer), room temperature

2 tablespoons brown sugar

2 teaspoons grated fresh or finely chopped candied ginger

A drop or 2 of hot sauce to add zip

Mix well. Put four chops or chicken breasts in a self-sealing plastic bag and pour in the marinade. Seal and put in the fridge for 4 to 24 hours – then they’re ready to grill. NOTE: After using marinade with raw meats, you must boil the used marinade for two minutes or longer if you are going to use it as a sauce for the meat. – Heloise
