Greater Spokane League: Beau Brett hit the game-winning two-run double in the top of the ninth inning and pitched out of a bases-loaded jam in the bottom of the ninth to lead Ferris to a 8-7 win over host Gonzaga Prep (0-2) on Thursday. Andrew Kittredge went 4 for 5 with two doubles, a triple, two RBIs and two runs scored for the Saxons (1-1). … Michael Stewart hit an RBI double and scored the game-winning run on a balk in the bottom of the seventh inning as East Valley (1-1) came from behind to beat visiting Central Valley 7-6 on Thursday. Pat Beach gave CV (1-1) their first lead with an RBI double in the top of the seventh. … Jason Gravos struck out nine and allowed one run through six innings to lead Mt. Spokane to a 6-4 win over visiting Mead. The Panthers (1-1) rallied with three runs in the top of the seventh, but freshman Nic Fowler struck out the last batter of the game with the bases loaded for the Wildcats (2-0). … Adam Smith struck out 11 in six innings and picked up the win as University topped Shadle Park (0-2) 10-4. Boys golf

Deer Park (312) was the top overall finisher at the Pirate Open at Esmeralda Golf Course. Tyler Nelson of Shadle Park took medalist honors with a 1-over-par round of 73, two shots better than Cheney’s Aaron Byrd and David Miller of host Rogers.
