Doll show and sale – The Lilac City Doll Club hosts the event with antique and modern dolls and accessories, 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Saturday at Spokane Community College, 1810 N. Greene. Admission is $3, children 12 and under are admitted free; 466-5322.

Nature photography – Local wildlife photographer Rich Leon will show examples of his work and discuss techniques for shooting good nature photographs, 9 a.m.-noon Saturday at the Turnbull Wildlife Refuge’s Education Center. Participants may also bring a lunch and stay for an afternoon hike to photograph flowers and wildlife. Donations are requested. To reach the refuge, head south from Cheney on Cheney-Plaza Road. After four miles turn left on Smith Road and go straight until reaching the Education Center; 359-7050.

Author to speak – Regional author Jean Hegland will discuss her novel “Windfalls,” noon May 10 at the Eastern Washington University Pence Union Building; 359-2400.
