The Venerable Thubten Chodron, a nun in the Tibetan Buddhist tradition, will speak about how to contribute to a more peaceful world during “Peace Begins With Me” at 7 p.m. Friday, in Molstead Library’s Todd Hall on North Idaho College’s main campus.

In her presentation and in two workshops held from 10 a.m. to noon and from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. next Saturday, Chodron will offer methods for dealing with anger and developing an ethic of nonharming and compassion.

Ordained in 1977, Chodron has practiced under the guidance of the Dalai Lama, Tsenzhap Serkong Rinpoche, Zopa Rinpoche and other Tibetan masters in both India and Nepal. In 2003, she founded Sravasti Abbey, one of the few Buddhist monasteries in the United States, near Newport, Wash.

The event is sponsored by the NIC Diversity Events Committee. Both the presentation and workshops are free and open to the public. For information, call (208) 769-3397.
