•District 7 2A tournament: Tony Smith struck out four and had a two-run double in the sixth inning Wednesday as Colville advanced to the double-elimination round via its 6-1 win over visiting Lakeside-Nine Mile Falls (12-9). Cody Reeves went 2 for 4 with two RBIs for the No. 1-seeded Indians (14-6), who will host Pullman Saturday in a game in which the winner will advance to regionals as the No. 1 seed. … J.T. Levenseller struck out four while giving up two hits as visiting Pullman blanked No. 2 seed Medical Lake 10-0. Jamie Fertakis hit a two-run single in the third for the Greyhounds (16-6). The Cardinals (13-8) play Lakeside in a loser-out game at Colville Saturday.

Softball

Great Northern League: Jordan Monasmith and Bryn Smith hit back-to-back solo shots to lead off the third as Chewelah rolled to a 12-1 win in the early game of a doubleheader at Riverside. Monasmith finished 2 for 3 including a double, three RBIs and two runs scored. Smith picked up a pair of hits and scored twice. Kelsey Schalock hit a leadoff homer in the third and Monasmith struck out nine while giving up five hits as the Cougars (12-7, 6-6) topped the Rams (4-12, 1-9) 7-2 in the late game. Riverside’s Megan Sanders hit a two-run homer in the bottom of the first.

Bi-County League playoffs: Ashley Perleberg drove in five runs as Reardan came from behind to top Lind-Ritzville 15-10 at Spangle. Teresa Christerson added three RBIs for the Indians (9-9), who play the winner of Odessa/Wilbur-Creston at 10 a.m. Saturday at Medical Lake, while the Broncos (7-14) play the loser at noon.

Girls golf

District 8 4A tournament: Gonzaga Prep’s Annie Brophy turned in a 15-over-par 158 to earn medalist honors at the two-round tournament that began Monday at The Links and concluded at Hangman Valley. Lauren Howell finished one stroke back and will join Mead teammates Brittany Wilcox (173) and Sarah Villalovoz (177) as state participants at Hangman Valley. Lewis and Clark’s Molly Fuhs (162), Allison Moran (164) and Katrina Bech also finished among the advancing eight.

Boys golf

Northeast A subdistrict tournament: Kettle Falls’ Jason Azzarito earned medalist honors by firing a 3-under 69 at the 6,751-yard Deer Park Golf Course. Colfax’s Sam Hatley finished runner-up with an 80, and Freeman’s Max Riggs rounded out the top three at 82. Colfax, Freeman and Kettle Falls all had four finishers in the top 12, who advance to Monday’s District 7 1A tournament at Liberty Lake.
