Giants 9, Cubs 3: At San Francisco, Barry Bonds remained one home run shy of Babe Ruth’s 714, going 0 for 3 with two walks that keyed a pair of rallies against Chicago. Tonight Bonds will face Los Angeles pitcher Brad Penny.

Astros 4, Dodgers 2: At Los Angeles, Wandy Rodriguez took a shutout into the seventh inning, Dan Wheeler escaped a bases-loaded jam in the ninth as Houston snapped a six-game losing streak.

Padres 8, Brewers 5: At San Diego, Jake Peavy matched his career high with 13 strikeouts and allowed two hits in seven scoreless innings as San Diego topped Milwaukee for its 11th victory in 12 games.

Reds 5, Nationals 4 (11): At Cincinnati, Ken Griffey Jr. defeated Washington with a walk-off, three-run homer in his return to action after a month.

Phillies 2, Mets 0 (5): Chase Utley homered as host Philadelphia blanked New York in a rain-shortened game.

Braves 9, Marlins 1: At Miami, Florida pitcher Dontrelle Willis was roughed up again as Atlanta got a season-high 18 hits.

Diamondbacks at Pirates, ppd.: The game at Pittsburgh was rained out after a 90-minute delay. It will be made up June 19.
