Concert celebrates moms
The North Idaho College Symphonic Band will present “Celebrating Motherhood,” an afternoon of music for moms beginning at 2 p.m. Sunday, in Coeur d’Alene City Park.
This year’s annual Mother’s Day Concert in the Park will include the NIC Symphonic Band’s performance of the circus-themed march “Barnum and Bailey’s Favorite” and the ragtime piece “Kentucky Sunrise.” The band also will perform a ‘50s flashback piece called “Solid Gold,” which includes songs such as “Tequila” and “La Bamba.”
The performance also will include tunes from the musical “The Music Man” and a prelude to the Coeur d’Alene Summer Theatre season with a medley from “The King and I.” In keeping with tradition of the annual concert, the NIC Symphonic Band will play “America the Beautiful” as well as the grand finale performance of Roy Ringwald’s “Battle Hymn of the Republic.”
The concert is free and open to the public and will be held at the park regardless of weather.
