Shock unleash offense, beat Coyotes
FRESNO, Calif. – The Spokane Shock cranked up the offense on Saturday night and rolled to a 68-54 victory over the Central Valley Coyotes in af2 action.
Quarterback Alex Neist connected on 26 of 34 pass attempts for 336 yards and six touchdowns for the Shock, who took over sole possession of first place in the West Division.
Spokane improved to 6-1 on the season. Bakersfield fell to 5-2 after a 49-42 setback at the hands of Stockton.
Charles Frederick caught six passes for 114 yards and a pair of touchdowns for Spokane, while Kevin Bear hauled in six passes for 99 yards and a pair of scores – one rushing and one receiving.
Chris Stallworth had four catches for 43 yards for the Shock, and his interception of a pass from Central Valley quarterback Scott Rislov with just over a minute remaining sealed the victory.
Rislov finished 22 of 30 for 279 yards and six TDs for the Coyotes. LaMonte Jones, his main target, hauled in eight passes for 119 yards and a pair of TDs.
Spokane scored on its first possession – benefiting from a pair of Central Valley penalties to keep the drive alive – with Raul Vigil finding the end zone on a 3-yard run.
Antwone Savage finished with three TD catches for Spokane, including two in the fourth quarter.
