Freeman, Colfax move on

Casey Olson threw a three-hitter and Erin Cory had a two-run single in the first inning Tuesday as Freeman beat Colfax 5-1 in the District 7 1A softball title game at Franklin Park.

Freeman (13-9) will open the State 1A tournament at noon Friday in Moses Lake against Cascade Christian.

Colfax (15-7) bounced back to capture the second and final berth to state, as Sadie Lazzarini and Kylie Shaw had two-out RBI singles in the ninth for a 6-5 win over Kettle Falls (11-12). The Bulldogs open state at 10 a.m. against Cedar Park Christian.

District 9 B: DeSales eliminated Tekoa-Oakesdale/Rosalia 3-2 and Garfield-Palouse knocked out Dayton (score unavailable) at Kennewick.

DeSales and Garfield-Palouse met in a late game to determine the third and final seed to the state. The game was delayed by rain and the result was not available at press time. The winner will play Inchelium on Thursday in the first round of the State B tournament in Yakima.

In another late game, Colton played Touchet to determine the top two seeds to state. The winner will play Morton in the first round of state. The loser will play Toutle Lake.
