It’s all about sin in ‘Catechism 2’

Sister is back, and she wields a mean ruler.

“Late Nite Catechism 2,” the sequel to the smash hit “Late Nite Catechism,” is coming to The Met.

This touring production will feature Kimberly Richards, a California actress who has played Sister in months of sold-out shows around the country.

The stern but hilarious “nun” teaches the audience about right and wrong, Vatican II, and the tragic consequences of bad behavior.

If you are chewing gum, yakking on your cell phone or dressed even slightly revealingly, you’d better hope you’re sitting in the back.

This is a fundraiser for CenterStage (although please note that it is not at CenterStage). In addition, 5 percent of the proceeds will be donated to the Catholic Charities of Spokane.

The sequel centers largely on the Ten Commandments and on the nature of sin. (Sister: “If it feels good, it’s a sin.”) The subtitle of the show is “Sometimes We Feel Guilty Because We Are Guilty.”

According to reviews in other cities, it relies even more heavily on audience involvement than the first “Catechism,” including an “Ask Sister Anything” segment. You’ll laugh during that part of the show, but you might also learn something about Christianity and Catholicism.

There are also a number of new pieces scripted by playwright Maripat Donovan, including a discussion of heaven and hell as a kind of “Chutes and Ladders” game.
