Football

Vader Castillo threw touchdown passes of 50 and 5 yards and ran for another as Touchet beat Almira/Coulee-Hartline 34-16 in a State 1B qualifier Saturday in Coulee City.

The Indians (6-4) advance to play Tri-Cities Prep in the first round of the state tournament.

Jordan Hughes rushed for 128 yards and scored once for the Warriors (9-2), who are finished for the season.

Swimming

Pullman finished fifth and Cheney took eighth at the girls 2A Swimming and Diving Championships at the King County Aquatics Center in Federal Way.

Individual Pullman swimmers in the top eight: Kylie Shaw (sixth, 100-yard freestyle), Hanna Connett (seventh, 200 IM).

Individual Cheney swimmers finishing in the top eight: Alexa Landreaux (seventh, 200 freestyle), Kaitlin Salley (eighth, 100 backstroke and 100 freestyle), Sarah Moore (eighth, 100 breaststroke)
