Seahawks put Tubbs on IR, sign Laury

From Wire Reports The Spokesman-Review

The Seattle Seahawks put defensive tackle Marcus Tubbs on injured reserve, ending his season, and signed linebacker Lance Laury from the practice squad Saturday.

The NFC West-leading Seahawks play the St. Louis Rams at Qwest Field today.

The 6-foot-3, 324-pound Tubbs, a first-round pick in the 2004 NFL draft, has a left knee injury. He has played in five games for the Seahawks this season, starting two.

Tubbs had seven tackles, including four solo, and half a sack. In his three-season career with Seattle, he has 60 tackles, 38 of them solo, with seven sacks, three forced fumbles and a fumble recovery.

Laury signed with the Seahawks on May 1 as an undrafted rookie free agent and has spent the entire season on the team’s practice squad.

Smith in; Toomer out

The New York Giants placed receiver Amani Toomer on the injured reserve list and signed linebacker Tyson Smith from their practice squad. Toomer had surgery Friday to repair a partially torn anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee.

Glenn won’t play

Dallas Cowboys wide receiver Terry Glenn will not play today against Arizona.

Glenn did not accompany the team to Phoenix and has been slowed the last two weeks because of a roughening of the underside of his right kneecap.

Coleman cut

The Dallas Cowboys cut safety Marcus Coleman after he was arrested on a charge of driving while intoxicated.

The 32-year-old Coleman was stopped at about 2:40 a.m. for a traffic violation, and there were indications he had been drinking, Irving (Texas) police said. Coleman, an 11-year veteran, was released after posting bond on the charge of DWI, police said.
