Davis resigns after 22 years at Freeman
In announcing his resignation as Freeman volleyball coach, Kenny Davis estimated that travels with his team have totaled roughly two trips around the earth.
Davis is stepping down after 22 years at Freeman and 27 total years as a high school varsity volleyball coach.
“There comes a time in everyone’s career when they know the timing is correct,” Davis said.
During his tenure at Class 1A Freeman, the Scotties made 10 state trips, winning six trophies, including second in 2002 and third in 2003. His teams averaged a 3.3 grade-point average.
The Scotties made six straight appearances in this decade before missing out this year. Three teams from the Northeast A League reached last week’s state semifinals, finishing first, second and sixth.
“We were in the toughest league in state,” Davis said. “I had nothing but fun.”
