Man arrested in stabbing

From Staff Reports The Spokesman-Review

A 19-year-old Post Falls man was arrested early Tuesday morning for allegedly stabbing another young man who had accused him of stealing a bank card.

Robert W. Laverdure was booked into the Kootenai County Jail on charges of aggravated battery.

The 19-year-old stabbing victim told Post Falls police he was walking home on Ping Road around 10 p.m. when a car approached. Laverdure allegedly got out and ran at the victim and knocked him to the ground.

When the victim realized he had been stabbed in the stomach, he went to a friend’s house and was taken to Kootenai Medical Center, according to police.

Laverdure was arrested a few hours later at a residence on Emma Street in Coeur d’Alene.

The victim told police he believed Laverdure attacked him because he had filed a police report on Nov. 20 accusing Laverdure of stealing his check card. Not long before the attack, the victim allegedly received a threat saying he “better watch his back.”
