Constitution Day lecture – David Mindich, former CNN assignment editor and professor of journalism at St. Michael’s College, will speak on “Tuning Out and Dropping Out: How Disengagement Challenges our Democracy and Weakens Constitutional Protections,” 7 p.m. Friday at Whitworth College’s Weyerhaeuser Hall, 302 W. Swimming team tryouts – The Spokane Area Swimming Team is looking for new members age 6-16, 5-5:30 p.m. Sept. 20 at Witter Pool, 1400 E. Mission. Additional tryouts will be 5-5:30 p.m. Sept. 25 and Oct. 2 at the Shadle Park Pool, 4327 N. Ash. Swimmers must be able to complete 25 yards of freestyle and backstroke. (509) 326-7546.
