Hanging a big-game animal on a vehicle isn’t something good sportsmen normally condone. But for Bonnie Potter of Roundup, MT, it was a matter of necessity.

Potter drew a coveted bull elk hunting permit for Montana’s Missouri River Breaks last year and she wasn’t about to pass up the opportunity just because her pickup’s transmission broke down before the season.

Nor did she flinch when she filled the tag with a bull that was just about as big as her sub-compact Dodge Colt, shown here during a short travel break in Lewistown, MT, last October. She and her partner hauled it onto the top, lashed it down and drove with the shocks bottomed out more than 60 miles home with the most celebrated hood ornament in Central Montana.
