Zimmerman rejoins Chiefs

The Spokesman-Review

Defenseman Sean Zimmerman will return to the Spokane Chiefs lineup tonight in Vancouver after being returned to the Western Hockey League team by the New Jersey Devils.

Chiefs teammate Michael Grabner, however, remains in the Vancouver Canucks camp.

Zimmerman, a four-year veteran who signed a contract in the offseason with New Jersey after being selected in the 2005 NHL Entry Draft, had been attending the Devils camp the past two weeks. In August, Zimmerman participated in the U.S. National Junior Team evaluation camp in Lake Placid, N.Y.

Grabner, 19, was Vancouver’s first-round selection this summer. He played in his first exhibition games with the Canucks during the weekend and scored Vancouver’s goal in a 5-1 loss at Anaheim on Friday.

Also, the Chiefs reassigned 17-year-old Thomas Parker to the Alberta Junior Hockey League, leaving Spokane’s roster at 25 (two goaltenders, eight defenseman and 15 forwards).
