Chrissi Almquist scored the game-winning goal in the 67th minute off an assist from Kristi Wirtz as Shadle Park beat Mt. Spokane 1-0 Wednesday in Greater Spokane League girls soccer action at Shadle Park.

Jen Schwartz made five saves in the shutout for the Highlanders (4-2, 4-1) and Kalie Phillipy had nine saves for Mt. Spokane (4-3, 2-2).

In other GSL games, Lindsey Moles and Mallory Mott each scored a goal in the first half as East Valley (4-3, 4-1) defeated North Central (2-2, 1-2) 3-1 at East Valley. Morgan Manchester added a goal in the second half for the Knights and Hannah Krogseth and Brooke Myre combined for three saves in the shutout. … Caitlin Hormel scored two goals in her return to the field after missing a year and a half due to knee surgery as Mead (6-1, 3-1) rolled past Rogers (0-6, 0-5) 6-0 at Mead. Kelsey Beaton added a goal and an assist for the Panthers. … Brittany Dillon netted two goals and Dominique Arias had three assists as Ferris (7-1, 4-0) beat Central Valley 3-0 at Central Valley (2-6, 0-4). … Rachel Lopez had a hat trick and an assist and Sara Santiago added a goal and an assist as University (6-3, 3-1) rolled past Lewis and Clark (3-4, 1-3) 4-1 at University. Kourtney Pannell and Allison Seymour combined for nine saves for University.

Cross country

Dylan Hatcher, Kelly Lynch, and Kelvin Darather finished one-two-three for Mead as they overwhelmed Mt. Spokane 15-48 and Shadle Park 18-43 in a Greater Spokane League boys dual meet at Siemers Farm. Shadle Park beat Mt. Spokane 24-33. … Also in the GSL boys meets, Ferris defeated Gonzaga Prep 16-47 at Finch Arboretum as the Saxons had the top four placers. Jeff Devlin of Ferris won the individual race. … Central Valley finished with the top three placers as they beat North Central 22-35 and Rogers 16-47 at Central Valley. Sean Coyle, Tylor Thatcher, and Jayson Taylor went 1-2-3 for the Bears. NC beat Rogers 17-46 in the other race. In GSL girls action, Andrea Nelson of Shadle Park won the individual race by 49 seconds, but Mt. Spokane beat Shadle Park 22-36 and Mead 25-30. In the other race, Mead beat SP 23-33. … Gonzaga Prep finished with four racers in the top five as they beat Ferris 17-44 at Finch Arboretum. Theresa Hailey of GP won the individual race, one minute and 12 seconds in front of the second place finisher. … University beat Lewis and Clark 23-34 and East Valley 23-37 as they swept the dual meet at Manito Park. Lauren Bergam of EV won the individual race in 20:24. … Central Valley swept North Central and Rogers in a dual meet at Central Valley. The Bears beat NC 26-29 and Rogers 15-50. North Central finished with the top two racers, and they beat Rogers 15-49 in the other race.
