7 on tour

The Spokesman-Review

A closer look at seven musical comebacks slated for summer:

1

The Police: Includes: all three original members. No new music planned as yet.

2

Genesis: Includes: the three main members (post-Peter Gabriel). They swear they’ll record no new music.

3

Smashing Pumpkins: Includes: leader Billy Corgan and drummer Jimmy Chamberlain. A new album, “Zeitgeist,” is due July 7, followed by a U.S. tour.

4

Rage Against the Machine: Includes: all four original members. No new music planned as yet, but since three of the members just split with the band Audioslave, don’t bet against it.

5

The Stooges: Includes: Iggy Pop and the two other surviving original members. Released a new album, “The Weirdness,” last month.

6

Crowded House: Includes: the two surviving main members. A fall tour is planned.

7

The Eagles: Includes: Don Henley, Glenn Frey, Joe Walsh and Timothy B. Schmit. Their first album of entirely new material in 28 years, “The Long Road Out of Eden,” arrives later this spring or early summer, followed by a tour.
