Brewers 3-5, Marlins 2-2: At Miami, Rickie Weeks started the go-ahead rally in the opener, then provided most of the offense in the second game. Weeks scored on Prince Fielder’s 13th-inning single as Milwaukee beat Florida in the completion of a suspended game. He then homered, tripled and scored three runs in a victory in the regularly scheduled game.

Braves 8, Nationals 3: At Atlanta, Andruw Jones and Chipper Jones homered and the Braves beat Washington. Atlanta is off to its best start since 1995.

Phillies 5, Mets 2: At New York, Adam Eaton pitched seven steady innings and Philadelphia took advantage of seven walks by Oliver Perez to beat the Mets.

Cardinals 3, Pirates 2: At Pittsburgh, Chris Duncan hit a pinch-hit solo home run in the top of the ninth inning to lead St. Louis over the Pirates.

Reds 3, Diamondbacks 2: At Phoenix, Josh Hamilton homered for the second straight game and Javier Valentin hit a go-ahead, two-run double in the seventh inning as Cincinnati defeated Arizona to end a three-game losing streak.

Padres 4, Giants 0: At San Diego, Greg Maddux, pitching three days before his 41st birthday, earned his first victory with the Padres by beating San Francisco. He combined on a six-hitter with Cla Meredith, Scott Linebrink and Doug Brocail. The Padres bullpen extended its scoreless streak to 28 1/3 innings.

Dodgers 3, Rockies 0: At Los Angeles, Brad Penny allowed two hits over 6 1/3 innings and Nomar Garciaparra hit a tiebreaking two-run single, leading the Dodgers to a victory over Colorado.

Astros vs. Cubs, ppd.: At Chicago, the Cubs’ game against Houston was postponed because of rain and snow and is expected to be made up on July 12.
