EWU offense rolls in first scrimmage
Sophomore quarterback Matt Nichols completed all seven of his passes for 148 yards as the Eastern Washington football team concluded its first week of spring practice with a 36-play scrimmage Friday.
Nichols used six plays to direct the offense to two quick scores in the controlled scrimmage.
Altogether, the offense finished with 321 yards and three scores with 153 yards on the ground on 22 carries and 10 of 14 passes completed for 168 more.
“The offensive line did OK today,” said coach Paul Wulff in an EWU press release. “We’re starting to get a little cleaner in terms of our execution. We’ll start throwing in more things on defense and our offense will have to adjust to that.”
Sophomore defensive back Kevin Hatch (Freeman) had five tackles.
The Eagles have 12 practices remaining in the next three weeks with three more public scrimmages including the Red-White Game on May 5.
