Cardinals 2, Cubs 1: At Chicago, reliever-turned-starter Braden Looper (3-1) allowed five hits in seven innings and Preston Wilson hit a long two-run homer in the seventh as St. Louis snapped a four-game losing streak.
Braves 7, Mets 3: At New York, Tim Hudson allowed five hits over eight innings and Chipper Jones hit a two-run homer for Atlanta.
Reds 2, Phillies 1 (10): At Cincinnati, ex-Washington State University standout Scott Hatteberg hit a two-out, solo homer that tied it in the ninth, and Brandon Phillips singled with the bases loaded in the 10th to defeat Philadelphia.
Astros 6, Brewers 5: At Milwaukee, Craig Biggio hit his first grand slam in 13 years with one out in the ninth and Houston extended its winning streak to five. It was his first grand slam since 1994. His other came in 1989.
Nationals 6, Marlins 5 (14): At Miami, Chris Snelling singled off first baseman Mike Jacobs’ glove to score Ryan Church from second in the 14th for Washington.
Padres 11, Rockies 1: At Denver, Adrian Gonzalez homered and matched his career high with four RBIs as San Diego beat Colorado.
Dodgers 10, Pirates 2: At Los Angeles, Randy Wolf struck out a season-high 10 and hit a two-run double that highlighted a six-run third in a win over Pittsburgh.
Giants 4, Diamondbacks 2: At San Francisco, pitcher Russ Ortiz got the win and singled against Arizona. Barry Bonds went 2 for 4 to raise his batting average from .306 to .325.
