Indians close in

The Spokesman-Review

EUGENE, Ore. – The Spokane Indians broke a tie with a three-run seventh inning on the way to a 6-4 Northwest League baseball victory over the Eugene Emeralds at Civic Stadium Friday night that brought the Indians within a half-game of the lead in the East Division.

The Indians (22-28) broke the 3-3 tie on an error by center fielder Luis Durango, and then expanded their margin on Matthew Larson’s sacrifice fly and an RBI double by Renny Osuna, who had three hits. The Emeralds came back for one run in the bottom of the inning, but that ended the night’s scoring.

Ryan Falcon (4-1), the third of four pitchers, got the win and Andrew Laughter got his sixth save. Starter Evan Reed (four innings) and Neftali Feliz (two innings) had five strikeouts each.
