Guests’ theft of showerhead, makes party host steaming mad

Diane Verhoeven King Features Syndicate

Dear Diane: About three weeks ago, my husband and I held a dinner party for five other couples. At the end of the evening, after our guests had gone and we’d cleaned up, I went to take a shower and discovered that the showerhead in our bathroom had been stolen!

This wasn’t just any old showerhead you could buy at Home Depot. This was one my husband and I had bought while on holiday in Europe two months ago. And let me tell you, Diane, it wasn’t cheap.

Needless to say, I have been doing some detective work. I have visited the homes of most of the guests and discovered to my surprise that TWO of the guests have the same showerhead. I asked both friends where they got their showerhead and they both answered, “eBay.”

One of them must be lying, but I don’t know who. Diane, I need to know which of my friends is the thief; but I don’t know how. Any suggestions? — Low flow in Louisville

Dear Louisville: Yes. First, check eBay and find a replacement showerhead.

Second, forget about interrogating your friends, you’ll only end up alienating at least one innocent couple.

Third, don’t hold any more dinner parties.

It’s unfortunate that you have friends who feel they can steal from you. But I am also intrigued by the fact that you have at least one friend who walks around with big ol’ crescent wrench in her purse.

Let it go. It’s only a showerhead. However, if it bothers you that much, then confide in a couple you trust and hope they can find out who the culprit is.
