Site gives access to Rose archives

The Spokesman-Review

One reason the Internet drives us crazy: It keeps trying to imitate TV. So, why would we call attention to a site that dishes out recycled TV broadcasts?

Because this is the Charlie Rose show archive, at charlierose.com/home and it provides a nice way to browse through thousands of hours of video interviews.

Nice feature: The index of guests according to industry or background. In the technology group, the names include Google founders Sergey Brin and Larry Page, Web guru Esther Dyson, and Bill Gates.

Another good feature: Searching shows by keyword. For example, “net neutrality” popped up in seven different Rose episodes.

One big annoyance: While all video is Flash-based (compressed for easier viewing), the site viewer doesn’t let you roll back or forward on the segment. Say you started watching a show, did something else and had to come back. You’d have to start at the front again.

Collagr.com

Want to produce an online collage of your Flickr photo galleries? Collagr.com is one of several sites that let you showcase in one fell swoop a whole gallery of online images.

So far it only works with flickr.com and photobucket.com. It allows for lots of ways to create color backgrounds and borders. What it doesn’t offer is the option of being selective – choosing an assortment of photos off an online gallery.
