People: So it’s going to be Oprah, David!

From Wire Reports The Spokesman-Review

Feud? What feud?

David Letterman will make his first appearance on “The Oprah Winfrey Show” next month, another sign the talk-show titans have buried the hatchet after a rift that lasted more than a decade.

Letterman will tape the interview, a rare appearance on someone else’s show, on Sept. 10 at Madison Square Garden in New York to kick off the 22nd season of Winfrey’s show.

Their reconciliation began in 2005 when Winfrey appeared on CBS’ “Late Show with David Letterman.” It was Winfrey’s first guest appearance with Letterman, though she twice appeared on his NBC show before the comic jumped networks in 1993.

Letterman frequently joked about Winfrey – including his odd “Oprah, Uma!” riff while hosting the Academy Wards in 1995 – and she rejected repeated offers to appear on his program.

In 2003, Winfrey told Time magazine she wouldn’t be a guest of Letterman’s because she had been “completely uncomfortable” as the target of his jokes.

When she finally did appear on his show two years ago, she told him, “I want you to know, it’s really over, whatever you thought was happening.”

Replied Letterman: “Are you sure it’s over?”

He and Winfrey also taped a Super Bowl commercial last year.

Letterman’s appearance on Winfrey’s nationally syndicated show will appear live in some markets and will be rebroadcast in others.

Look, it’s good ol’ George

Julia Louis-Dreyfus has a TV date with Jason Alexander.

The former “Seinfeld” co-stars will reunite in an upcoming episode of Louis-Dreyfus’ sitcom, “The New Adventures of Old Christine.”

Alexander’s character – a lizard handler for children’s birthday parties – will go on a date with Christine, a divorced working mom.

“Old Christine” will return for a third season sometime this winter.

What’s the problem, Houston?

Bobby Brown claims in a lawsuit that Whitney Houston has kept him from seeing their teenage daughter since early June.

But Houston denies in other court documents that she is keeping Brown and his daughter apart and says she “would like him to be involved” in 14-year-old Bobbi Kristina‘s life.

Brown has been trying to overturn a judge’s default judgment to nullify the couple’s marriage and grant Houston sole custody.

Madonna with child welfare

The Malawi official overseeing Madonna‘s efforts to adopt an African toddler will make a long-awaited trip to the singer’s London home next week to assess her suitability as a parent.

Malawi’s adoption laws require that prospective parents undergo an 18- to 24-month assessment period in that country – a rule that was bent when Madonna and her husband, the film producer Guy Ritchie, were allowed to take David Banda, then 14 months old, home last October.

Di’s charity lives on

Fashion photographer Mario Testino will auction a signed photo of Princess Diana to raise money for victims of the recent earthquake in his homeland of Peru.

The picture, which shows a smiling Diana wearing a black dress, first appeared in Vanity Fair magazine in 1997 and was used on invitations to the recent Wembley Stadium concert organized by Prince Harry and Prince William in their mother’s memory.

Diana died in a car crash 10 years ago today.

“I have decided to auction an image of Diana to help the people in Peru because, for me, Diana went out of her way to help people,” Testino says.
